Dear family and friends,
Big news! I have accepted a first grade teaching
position for the 2010-2011 school year in Kigali, Rwanda! I have been
praying for an opportunity such as this for months and months and it
has come! I really think this is a good fit for me and I'm blessed to
have such supportive people in my life who are excited for me as well.
I am leaving on Monday, August 9 and their school year starts on
Wednesday, August 18 so I'll be very busy once I arrive. The school
year ends at the end of May.
The school is Kigali International Community School and it is a
Christian school primarily for children in missionary families and
Rwandan children. Please feel free to check out the website:
www.kicsrw.org. Although it is a nice school, they still don't have
very many resources, so I will be bringing along much of my own
supplies.
I will have skype while I'm there to communicate (Kigali is 6 hours
later than here) so if you have skype, please add me. My name is
kerrydembowski.
I am also setting up my blog (it is a work in progress) to keep all of
you updated on my teaching adventures while I'm there. On the side of
my page there is a button that says "Donate!" As this is a mission
trip, they are asking that I raise about $400/month from the
supportive people in my life to pay for my living expenses while I'm
there. If you feel as though you would like to help with this, please
do so! It is a paypal account that should go into my bank account,
which I will be able to access with my international debit card from
Rwanda. So, even if you are unable to donate in the next two weeks, I
will still be able to receive support while I'm there. If you'd prefer to not send money via internet, please let me know and I'll send you my home address.

Most of all, I ask for prayers for my travels, safety, life as a first
year teacher in another country and of course my family who is amazing
enough to let me go for ten months.
