Dedicated to Aunt Phyllis...

Aunt Phyllis requested some pictures of Douglas and me...
Here they are!

The motor garage really can be fun! :)

The first graders were beginning a new unit in social studies entitled "Work, work, work!"  I decided we'd take a field trip to a garage/car dealership in Kigali to learn about goods, services, and jobs.  It might not sound like the most appealing place for small children, but we have limited field trip possibilities here, so we made it work.

The funnest part was most likely the car ride, as the children were completely stoked to ride in a car with several of their friends during school hours.  We got to go around the show room, watch them crank up the car and remove a tire.  We also got to see the show room, and watch them hook up a car to the computer.  At the end they each got a cool pencil with a car shaped pencil sharpener!

They had a great time getting out of the classroom! :)
